Dental Cleaning & Periodontal Therapy
We provide routine dental cleanings as well as focused therapies to prevent and eliminate periodontal disease.
Routine
Such therapies include Scaling and Root Planing, also known as a “deep cleaning;” where the dentist will numb the patient and the hygienist will scale below the gum tissue, removing hardened plaque and bacteria that are stuck to the roots below the gum tissue. This is generally completed in 2 appointments. If the periodontal disease is severe, we will refer the patient to a Periodontist or “gum specialist” to determine what other therapies are needed to obtain a healthy mouth.
Pit & Fissure Sealants
Sealants are effective in controlling and preventing decay in certain areas of the mouth, particularly in children.
Sealants
In molars, the grooves are sometimes too narrow for even a tooth brush bristle to penetrate, allowing bacteria to inhabit these grooves regardless of how often you brush. Sealants seal these grooves to help prevent bacteria from getting into the deep grooves and causing tooth decay.
Diagnostic Digital Dental X-Rays
The large digital images let you see what your dentist sees, so it’s easier for you to understand how your dentist will treat your teeth.
X-Rays
Digital radiographs are one of the newest X-ray techniques around. Digital dental X-ray systems are more sensitive than film systems, so your exposure to X-rays is reduced by as much as 75 percent. The large digital images let you see what your dentist sees, so it’s easier for you to understand how your dentist will treat your teeth. Once captured digitally, a radiograph can be examined on the computer, allowing the dentist to manipulate and/or magnify the image exponentially. Images acquired digitally can be instantly shared with specialists and thus improve treatment planning capabilities.
